Welcome!
I’m glad you’re here. I know it takes a lot to reach out. I’m proud of you for gathering more resources on your healing journey.
Hey, I’m Carrie.
I’m the owner and founder here at SGTW. I am a pre-licensed clinician working under supervision while I pursue licensure (LPCC then PsyD). I offer psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and relationships.
I used to work as a social worker with the chronically unhoused community. My favorite part of that work was building and relationships and hearing my clients’ stories. I decided I wanted to learn how to help others pursue deeper healing and space to build a meaningful life.
In my work with therapy participants, I strive to create an anti-oppressive, decolonizing, affirmative space and practice of interventions. I use evidence-based techniques, with an embodied, somatic, humanistic lens where all parts of us and identities are welcome.
We may be a good fit if you identify as a racial/ethnic global majority or hold other marginalized identities.
My Approach
I believe in collective healing and wellness. I am honored to accompany you in your journey to wellbeing. You are the expert and driver of your healing, I am a companion and at times a guide.
Together and collaboratively we create a safe and affirming therapy space, building upon mutual trust and respect.
My lens is strengths-based and non-judgmental, welcoming all parts while affirming self-worth, self-expression, and vulnerability. I engage with a relational approach, considering the systemic factors influencing your current experiences and concerns.
I support self-empowerment, self-efficacy, and restoring the connection and trust to oneself and others.
Modalities & Influences
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, Polyvagal Theory, Existential Therapy, and Liberation Psychology are modalities and theories I draw upon.
my background
I have nine years of experience working with clients in various clinical and counseling settings. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Global Studies, and Spanish. I completed a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and am pursuing licensure and continuing education courses (LPCC then PsyD).
I have a passion for working with people from marginalized communities and identities, especially BIPOC people and Biracial/Multiracial/Mixed individuals and interracial couples. I am Black and biracial.
In my free time, I enjoy rest, nature, movement, listening to music, supporting Black businesses, and spending quality time with my people. I am also a self-proclaimed - and completely hopeless plant nerd.
